Here are some of my top reasons for why I love biking:
1) It's the closest I've felt to flying
2) My mosquito bites don't itch when I'm biking
3) When there's no traffic around, and all you hear is your gears turning and your tires spinning over the road.
4) For some reason, being on a bike must seem unassuming. Strangers are warmer towards bikers, so it's a lot easier to start up a good conversation or ask for directions.
5) Going slow enough/being close enough (compared to a car) to notice all the cool and silly things that go on in this world. Check out this sign:
I've decided that Tennessee is very beautiful. I knew that North Carolina was going to be pretty, but I had no idea what to expect in Tennessee, and I have been very impressed with its rolling hills, endless farmland, respectable temperatures, and scarcity of mosquitoes (yay!).

Check out this hill we climbed today.
Don't be fooled, it may look like we had a downhill at the first part you can see on the picture, but I'll assure you, it was uphill all the way!
One little adventure today took us through one guy's backyard. The road we wanted to take was actually closed off, apparently because the guy's friend had cut down some trees and built a fence. This guy was just squatting on the land off of this back road we were taking. I almost felt like I was in another country--it was crazy to see his house (somewhat in shambles) and his scattered belongings (car parts and other random mechanics type things). I was surprised to see someone living in such conditions. But he was nonetheless very friendly and was more than willing to have 30 bikers walk through his yard (and chalk the path too!)
Lastly, check out what you can do with spokes after they're not on your bike anymore:
Cool, huh? =)

I wish I had know you wanted to fly. I would have been happy to take you on an airplane ride to tour our fare area.
We enjoyed your visit in Maryville.
You guys and girls were a great help. I was truly impressed with your dedication and attention to detail.
You did a great job on the closet shelves.
I have been enjoying reading all the blogs and learning about you fokes.
Best of luck and may your days be filled with down hill riding.

Yay! I'm glad Flynn has a name (and a good story and pretty sign to go with it) :) Wait is Flynn gender neutral?
